Easier Said Than Done!
Bad things happen to all of us.
We aren’t well equipped with handling hard times.
When you get knocked down there are negative feelings and negative thoughts.
Your Head Hurts.
You Feel Sad.
You Get Angry.
It’s immediately about the pain. We don’t automatically think anything positive.
We don’t think about the good or the positive aspects.
Life is bleak. You’re in an angry place.
You’re single and you feel alone. You feel really sorry for yourself. Cutbacks are made at the company you’ve work in for four long years. Years of hard dedication and work. Suddenly, with little notice you are let go from a job you love. Your best friend leaves the country, leaving you behind for good.
Your tenant stole your credit card, they spent beyond your limit on it, before you realize and cancel it. That tenant then vanishes one night. Leaving your entire income support empty.
Leaving you totally broke.
You are ready to give up. You feel like you’ve hit rock bottom.
Summer Of Love
Positivity Is The New Negativity
Fast forward a few months. My life still feels very negative. There’s very little good, I can find in anything. I still want to give up. No hope. Ho faith left inside me .
I still think I’ve hit rock bottom.
Then, I turn 30.
The “big 3-0”.
A close friend suggests a party. I really wasn’t “up for it”. I’m still at rock bottom. They weren’t really taking “no” for an answer.
The stage was set for a bar party. Invites were out. Excitement level?… 0% 
Over 100 People Show Up!
Who knew? 
People made an effort to show up.
People came out for me!
It really was a great feeling! The negativity was moving out, positivity moving slowly in. Long way to go, yet a little bit of hope and faith back in there.
That night, sitting with friends having a drink, I glanced up at the guy sitting on the other side of the bar. He looked like someone I would normally say hi to at a party!
Networking has always been my thing! I didn’t go over. This was my party. My chance to chill.
All attention was on me!
Even though we know I’m not good at that! Tonight; I was going to embrace it!
A week later, the guy and I bump into each other at a friend’s house. Conversation begins to flow. The guy lived across the street from me. The guy didn’t have a washing machine.
The IN! HOOKED!
A few weeks later, I got a job offer.
It suited me perfectly. A chance for me to prove I could make it. I started feeling more positive!
Back On Track
The Guy. Talking on a daily basis. We began to meet up a few times. Went on a few dates. My perspective on life was changing. Positivity was coming home again!
More To Life Than Negativity
Life was turning around. There was more to life than negativity. I was less angry. Giving up was not an option. Meeting up, turned into dating the guy.
Early on, in the relationship, with positive thoughts, I believed this could, should, would work! Like most relationships, there were rocky patches, we broke up twice. When we broke up the first time, he needed space. Space is what I gave him.
The second time, negative thoughts started coming back. Had I wasted all these months for nothing? Was I jumping in too fast? Did my positive attitude kill the mood? What was I doing wrong? Turned out it wasn’t me.
It was him.
A lack of relationships in the past. He had started to get “scared.” Normal! We worked through it. With POSITIVITY.
We used positivity. We looked at all the great things we had. We learnt to appreciate each other, our moods, our styles, our way of life.
A few months passed, negativity came back to haunt me.
A mutual friend, more his, than mine, was getting married. We planned on attending the party.
I showed. He didn’t.
Later that night, I approached the issue, ANGRY. Anger seemed to make a habit of turning up, when I got let down. I was hurt. Negativity had returned.
We Talked. We Yelled. We Talked More. We stopped to look at all the positivity, just like we had done in the past months.
That Night We Got Engaged!
His NO SHOW WASN’T his fault, he was picking up the engagement ring, got delayed in another town. Life!
He planned on proposing, next week!
Life turned around that night.
I learnt how to see positivity in bad situations. I surrounded myself with positive people, like “the guy!”
Positivity is learnt. It sends you in the right direction. It’s 40% of our happiness that we have control over. Remind yourself this when bad things happen to you. Life can seem like you “hit rock bottom”.
You have to get up. Kick yourself. Push yourself. Move forward.
Life will turn around! Believe in it!
Look at the good things in life. Find positivity in everything.
I did it. Can you?
